How to Jump Higher For a Dunk - Exercises to Increase Vertical Leap
That's the aspect that we will focus on. Getting you to be able to jump higher and hit that sweet dunk shot that you have been trying to nail. It might not be an easy road, but you will find that through the employment of these techniques that you will be able to make a considerable difference in your ups.
The techniques to be described next are to be used together. Think of the separate parts as one whole, just separated into two more distinct concepts. They will both work together to vastly improve your jump by inches.
The first is to exercise. Surely you might have guessed that in order to improve your dunk ability, you have to first improve the explosiveness of your legs that drive the process. There are plenty of exercises that you could use; however there are a few that are geared to especially aid the muscles necessary for a good jump. Some of these include: jumping rope, running up stairs on your toes, and lifting weights with your legs.
But do not assume that doing this day in and day out will develop you into a super jumper in a few weeks. No, it is endurance through the process that will yield results. The second part of the technique is to allow a couple of days a week for your legs to rest and regain their full strength for more rigorous workouts. You see, if you do not allow them a chance to rest, you risk injury.
Through the employment of these techniques you will hopefully see some real results in your jumping. This will likely lead to your ability to dunk with the best of them, if you follow the plan as it is described above.

Offside Sanctions - What Happens When an Offside Offence is Committed
Often, soccer fans do not clearly understand signals from the referee. When a player commits an offside offence, the referee has a few options in dealing with that particular infraction, which Law 11 in FIFA's law book covers. The "offside sanction" refers to the punishment for an offside infraction. The referee can only administer the offside sanction when he or his assistant adjudges that an attacker, having been in an offside position, becomes involved in active play (during the same phase of play).
-- The Assistant Referee's signal
Once the assistant referee determines that an attacker has committed an offside offence, he would normally raise his arm (the one closer to the goal line) until he gets the referee's attention. In high profile games, the assistant referee (AR) will raise his flag, but he also has a microphone and/ or a signal beep available to attract the referee's attention. The assistant's flag remains vertical in the air, as a natural extension of the arm, until the referee acknowledges it.
Once the referee blows the whistle, the AR would then indicate the part of the field where the attacker committed the offence (far side/ centre field/ near side). The assistant referee should keep the flag raised until the referee acknowledges it or until the defending team is clearly in control of the ball.
-- The Referee's action
The referee has the option to "wave the assistant referee down" if he considers that the play no longer remains dangerous or if he figures that the assistant made an error (especially when dealing with unofficial linesmen). Once the referee acknowledges the assistant's flag, he will blow the whistle and wait for the assistant referee to make the next signal with his flag. Then, the referee would award an indirect free kick to the defending team from the point at which the offside offence was committed.
-- The indirect free kick
When match officials acknowledge and sanction an offside offence, an indirect free kick is the result. A player cannot score a goal directly from an indirect free kick. The ball is in play when it touches another player (whether teammate or opponent) who is on the field of play. The referee indicates the indirect free kick by raising his left hand vertically.
-- Unsporting behaviour in committing an offside offence
The referee can sanction a player for unsporting behaviour arising from an offside offence. However, this does not mean that the referee should caution a player for committing an offside offence. If an attacker in an offside position steps off the field to show the referee that he is not involved in active play but subsequently becomes involved in active play, he is guilty of unsporting behaviour. A defender may step off the field to place a defender in an offside position. This is not accepted practice and the referee can caution the defender for leaving the field of play without his permission.

Outdoor Basketball Hoops - Top 5 Features You Cannot Live Without
If you're buying an outdoor basketball goal system you NEED these 6 things. I created the list below along with explanation and things to watch out for. If you follow these guidelines I guarantee you'll love your new outdoor basketball hoop.
- Tempered Glass Backboard - The most important part of an outdoor basketball goal is the backboard. Tempered glass is harder making it more durable over time and heavier allowing it perform better than acrylic which is your other option. You can find them in all sizes ranging from 48 to 72 inches wide. If you're looking true gym quality play so you can practice like you compete, make sure sure to get a 72" x 42" x 1/2" board. Take special note of the 1/2" thickness as many manufactures only offer 3/8" thick tempered glass backboards. Many people express concern about putting a glass backboard on an OUTDOOR basketball system. The short answer is, unless somebody puts a brick through it, you have no reason to be concerned. Tempered glass holds up well in severe weather conditions and actually remains clear for the lifetime of the basketball goal unlike acrylic which clouds.
- Adjustable - Let the dunk contest begin! Lets be honest, shooting free throws for a few hours can get boring. Getting an adjustable systems ensures your new outdoor basketball hoop investment will get used, a lot. Also, young competitors can get in on the action and get a leg up on the competition with an early start. A few things to watch for include how low the system will adjust to. Some goals will go all the way down to 5' while others only make it to 7.5'. I'd recommend a system that will go down to at least 6' as even the youngest players can shoot at this height. Also, if you have young ones, get a system that is easy to adjust so you don't have to go out and lower it every 10 minutes. Look for what's called a lift-assist. This will neutralize the weight of the backboard making it effortless to adjust. Lastly, check the warranty. If your going to be dunking and hanging you'll very likely void your warranty on most systems as they are not designed to handle that kind of play.
- Heavy-duty Flex / Break-away Rim - This one goes hand in hand with the dunk contest from above. This will keep players safe and not injure their hands when dunking. Also, it's a nice professional look and feel.
- In-Ground - These systems have the best price to performance ratio. If you start looking at portables that perform as well as an in-ground system, you'll end up paying 10 times as much. If your HOA prohibits permanent outdoor basketball systems, you might consider spinning the pier and sleeve mounted system as portable. Technically, these hoops can be removed at the base and moved into your garage. It's not something you would want to do every day but after a little PR spin, you might be able to sell it. My last point on in-ground outdoor systems is that this is that these are by far the most popular premium hoops so your options are vast and fierce competition has lowered prices.
- Corrosion Protection - Everybody has that one goal (sometimes 5 or 6) that rusted away leaving a corroded shell of itself and a dangerous eye-sore on your driveway. Make your next outdoor basketball hoop your last. First, check the thickness of the main pole. This is a good indicator of overall build quality. Also the thicker it is, the longer it will take for the elements to eat through. A good pole will be 7 gauge (3/16") thick. Note that the lower the gauge is the thicker the metal (i.e. 11 gauge steel is thinner than 7 gauge steel). Next look for stainless steel fasteners. Another great feature is galvanization. This adds a layer zinc protecting the steel. Lastly, look for a corrosion warranty. If the manufacturer will not back their system up, don't trust it!

Basketball Goals at Institutional Schools & Churches For Playground or Parks - 5 Required Features
Institutions like schools and churches usually have outdoor playgrounds or parks with basketball courts for the public to use. These commercial applications require proven, heavy-duty basketball equipment that can hold up to demanding play and abuse. I have compiled 5 features that every institutional basketball system needs to survive in public parks and playgrounds.
- Lifetime Warranty - First and foremost you need a manufacturer that is going to stand by their institutional products. You will see many companies hawking their residential equipment in these situations. Be careful to check the warranty for institutional exclusions. It might say something like "Warranty valid for residential home use only."
- Removable / Lockable Adjustment Mechanism - Many schools and churches like to lock their adjustable basketball goals at certain heights to keep destructive dunk contests from happening. Also, when locking the system at 10', it's much harder for vandals to disassemble or deface the backboard. There are two ways to lock the system. First many systems allow for the crank handle to be removed which sounds attractive at first until you realize a pair of pliers can work as a good handle too. The other option is to padlock the systems. Many basketball goals have specially drilled holes for this purpose.
- Acrylic / Steel / Aluminum Backboard - This is probably the only one on the list that I would say is optional. I say that because, although acrylic backboards are "unbreakable," you give up a ton on performance and long-term durability/aesthetics. If you are truly in a rough area and worried about vandalism, I'd go with the acrylic. Otherwise, go with a tempered glass backboard.
- Six To Eight Inch Pole - When you think institutional basketball goal, undoubtedly, the silver bent post with aluminum fan backboard comes to mind. This is a great system and will hold up to about anything you throw at it. On the other hand, if you're looking something that performs and looks better, get a 6 - 8 inch square pole that's 7 gauge (3/16") thick. This will provide adequate support for larger, heavier backboards.
- 5 Foot Overhang - This gets the pole out of the playing area keeping players safe when running in for lay-ups or boxing out for rebounds reducing your liability. Watch out for systems with smaller than a 4' overhang as this is not adequate for safety in institutional parks and playgrounds.
Shop institutional basketball systems and Discover church/school/park/playground basketball equipment.

What Should the Orlando Magic Expect in 09-10?
The Orlando Magic were one of the surprising teams in the NBA last season for the most part. The Magic weren't expected to make the NBA Finals by many experts. While the Magic lost to the L.A. Lakers - overall, they did have a successful season they should be proud of. The Magic will want to take their season one step further - that is to win the title and not be runners-up.
While Dwight Howard stands head and shoulders above everyone else on the team , he was just a part of the reason the Magic went as far as they did. The Magic had a jump shot first type team. This breaks the mold because typically when you have a big man that is as athletic as Howard is, you look for him first - this wasn't how the Magic played. The Magic made 817 3-point field goals, tops in the league. Howard averaged 20 points per game, almost 14 rebounds, and 3 blocks per game which gave him defensive player of the year honors.
This season the Magic have some old and new faces on the team - new acquisitions include Matt Barnes, Jason Williams, Vince Carter, and Brandon Bass. Barnes is becoming a journeyman because this is 7th team since 2003 - hopefully he can have a productive season with the Magic. Vince carter will need to feel the void Hedo Turkoglu left when he signed with the Toronto Raptors. Carter hasn't been on a winning team in some time and this could be one of his last chances at a title.
The Magic will be one of the front-runners in the East with Boston and Cleveland surely. This time the East has Shaguille O'Neal being he plays for Cleveland. Tv stations are hoping form many Shaq vs. Howard match-ups especially in the Eastern Conference Finals.

Learn Graceful Movements With Rhythmic Gymnastics Equipment
As a girl steps towards womanhood her biggest virtues can be her graceful poise and correct bearing. With the advancement in technology, exercise has stopped being a part of our lives. We eat and sleep and the rest is all automated. We travel in cars to our schools and work places.
We go up in buildings in elevators and escalators. We carry our shopping loads in carts and spend most of the afternoons in front of the TV set or the computers.
Where when and how will the grace and poise come to a girl's personality as all these activities negate the basic requirements. Slouching on a couch will never give you the correct posture, riding a car or an escalator will never develop the muscles required to support the body in the correct way and help you to move in a graceful ladylike manner.
One way to improve body posture is to learn rhythmic gymnastics. If you are parents of a young girl try putting her in a class where she can learn it. With the basic skills known a girl can continue to practice it at home.
There is not much cost involved in buying rhythmic gymnastics equipment as it consists or a rope, hoop, ball, clubs and ribbon. Out of these you can buy any and have her practice her skills. With passage of time you will see that there will be a grace in her ever movement and will make her personality more confidant.
If you like to dance then learning this form of gymnastics will add to your dancing skill manifolds. The graceful movements involved and the steps learn by you will make you the center of attention on the dance floor which will help you win any competition or any heart that you desire.

What You Should Know About Training in Gymnastics
Though the sport of rhythmic gymnastics is fairly new, much progress has been made not just within the United Kingdom but also on the international scene. Through sheer hard work and determination (along with a training schedule which is very much part time when compared to their Eastern European counterparts) British gymnasts have raised their scored from the lowly 6.0s attained in the first World Championships in 1975, to the 9.0s which they are scoring today.
However, it is becoming more apparent with the current standards of excellence at World and Olympic level that British gymnasts will be struggling even to maintain this level of work, let alone raise it further.
The rigorous training programs undertaken by such countries as Bulgaria and Russia are leaving many of the Western countries behind. Their systems of selection and priority training demand a sole, full time commitment by gymnast and coach within a highly structured and well financed school.
This, of course, is not the case in the United Kingdom, where it is difficult even to consider competing on the same level. It is obvious that training is of vital importance for success at rhythmic gymnastics, everyone should improve their standard of performance if they follow a carefully structured schedule irrespective of their reason for taking up the sport and their reason for training.
The basis of partner work with clubs can be built upon simple matching movements performed in unison, and showing changing relationships between the two performers.
The two clubs can be placed in one hand and passed to a partner as an exchange during a turn or a circling action of the arm, or they could be rolled or slid to each other within the composition of the sequence. There is more room here for originality and invention, allowing scope for the creative expertise of coach and gymnast.

Brazil Wins Olympic Bid to Host 2016 Olympic Games in Rio De Janeiro
The Olympic Committee has chosen Brazil as the host country for the 2016 Olympic Games. Brazil is one of the future bright stars of the world as it has economically grown strong, and will one day be amongst the top nations. Brazil has also been very careful not to burn bridges with the United States, while making friends with Russia, China, India and trading with EU nations, all of Latin America, as well as Australia, Canada and some of the African Nations. Brazil has been a great Global Community team player, and I feel a very good choice.
The competition was tough during this contest to determine the 2016 Olympic Games. Tokyo, Japan and Chicago, United States seemed to be favorites early on, but were knocked out, as the Olympic Committee made its choices going into round two. As you know both Michelle and Barack Obama, along with their very good friend Oprah personally lobbied and promised that if Chicago was picked, it would have the full backing of the American People and US Government.
Brazil is a great country, it's people have always been our friends here in the USA, and they've always been gracious with international sporting events, especially soccer. When the announcement finally came through the newswire; "Brazil Wins Olympic Bid to Host 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro," everyone smiled and said; good choice. Indeed, it was a great choice, and I for one am unfortunately disappointed that the US didn't win this time, but very happy to see such a deserving nation will be hosting the 2016 Olympic Games! Please consider all this.

Wrestling Workouts - Best Way to Gain Strength in a Preseason Conditioning Program
Overall Strength
To really give yourself an edge over the competition it pays to be stronger than your opponents. There are a couple ways to accomplish this. The first way is an overall weight training program with a range of full body exercises that will help you achieve greater functional strength for your sport. Wrestling workouts shouldn't be setup like a bodybuilding workout.
It isn't important to really isolate each muscle for complete development like in a bodybuilding workout. It's better to do exercises that simulate more the demands of your sport. For instance if you are looking to work on your back muscles it's best to do a standing dumbbell rows rather than a seated cable row. Taking a pair of dumbbells and bending over to perform rows will not only work your back muscles but the many stabilizers in your core as well as your glutes and hamstrings. This pulling motion is much more functional overall than if you were in a stabilized position on a rowing machine. It will bring more muscles into play and burn more calories.
Wrestling workouts should use exercises that work multiple joints and multiple muscle groups at the same time are the best choice. Deadlifts, squats, pull ups, dips are some great core exercises for an overall strength routine. They will build your overall body by putting a greater stress load and the strength you will gain is more functional for the wrestling mat.
Low Body Fat Levels
Low body fat is another part of the equation to being stronger than your opponents. Unless you are in the heavyweight classes it pays to be extremely lean. It is essential to lose the majority of the body fat preseason so that you can focus on maintaining strength and gaining endurance through out the season.
Wrestling workouts should be performed in order to increase your metabolism so that you can burn the majority of fat from exercise rather from calorie reduction. If you spend time during the season cutting calories your glycogen levels will deplete leaving your strength endurance very low. This could cost you the match against a better conditioned opponent. Getting yourself to single digit body fat pre season will give you a huge benefit over your opponents.
So when getting yourself ready for the preseason make sure to include plenty of full body exercises in your wrestling workouts. One program that is perfect for wrestlers or mixed martial artists is How to Get Ripped Abs by John Alvino. It includes strength conditioning, flexibility, heavy anaerobic conditioning, and a nutritional program to get extremely ripped. Following the program for 6 to 12 weeks before practice starts can give you a huge jumpstart on the competition.

Interested in Knowing More About Wrestling?
Wrestling is a sport which involves physical combat between two fighters. Unlike boxing, this is not restricted to fist fighting. It also includes clinching, locking and holding. Most of the sporting events that include physical engagement are pretty ancient ones. But there are several wrestling styles which have evolved down the ages. The rules of the different styles vary but the basic paraphernalia remains the same. It is basically a combat of two wrestlers wherein each of them defends himself and also wages attacks on the opponent.
Types of Wrestling and its Disciplines
There are several categories into which wrestling can be divided. One of the most popular is professional wrestling which involves a hefty prize. This also incorporates the entertainment value of wrestling. But most of the results here are pre determined. The wrestlers are reduced to puppets that have strings attached and operate according to the already arranged outcomes. This is where the popular WWE comes in. In the US you often get stories that build up to the fights. On the contrary, in Japan, professional wrestling is taken more as a sport than as entertainment. These are genuine competitions. In Japan, it is referred to as the Puroresu. Wrestling also demands finesse and skill. It is a complex physical sport. More often than not, it is also taken to the level of art and aestheticism.
Collegiate wrestling is a type which is practiced at schools and universities. This is not at the professional level. Such kinds of wrestling competitions are known as folk style or scholastic wrestling. These terms are used in order to distinguish it from other kinds of the sport which form a part of international events such as the Olympics. Normally collegiate tournaments are supervised by organizations like NCAA, NJCAA, and NCWA. These contests are generally held in March.
The disciplines in wrestling are formulated and overseen by FILA. This can be classified into two sub divisions, one is the International wrestling and another is the Freestyle wrestling. According to the international organization there are five wrestling disciplines in the world at the moment. These are Freestyle, Grappling, Greco-Roman, Beach and Sambo wrestling. Though it is a combat sports, there are certain rules and regulations that have to be abided by. This organization ensures that the rules are followed in the various categories.
Nutrition and its Importance in Wrestling
Needless to say wrestling is a sport that requires huge amount of physical strength. One also has to have the tenacity and stamina to continue with it. It involves a good amount of exertion and hence one needs a lot of energy to keep going. So it is important to be careful about the nutrition and exercises. Wrestlers who ignore these may be spelling doom for themselves. There are many who opt for crash diets instead of a routine diet chart. It is prudent not to go the wrong way. If you want to be a good wrestler you have to pay attention to your body and its needs. A good wrestler would look after his posterior chain and work on the 'leverage areas' in particular.
The Mental Edge - The Missing Component to Greatness
Like most sports, success at the elite level of wrestling is often determined by the mental game. Many of the prominent wrestlers and other combat athletes hire professional sports psychologists to take their game to the highest level. There are also many "alternative" sports psychology methods that are becoming increasingly popular, including NLP, hypnosis and energy psychology.
Stephen Ladd is known as the Renegade Fighter Mental Coach, pioneering the use of cutting-edge alternative psychology methods like NLP, Hypnosis and Energy Psychology specifically for the combat athlete who wants to dominate their opponents and be victorious. Fantasy Football Debate - Willis McGahee Or Ray Rice?
Entering the 2009 fantasy football season, there was a lot of hype bestowed upon Ray Rice. The versatile, quick running back out of Rutgers was entering his second season and following a strong finish to the 2008 NFL season, it seemed like Rice was primed to break out.
Ray Rice had a great preseason and ended up winning the title of starting running back for the Baltimore Ravens. Fantasy gurus all over the internet proclaimed Rice as the sleeper pick for 2009, predicting that Rice, who catches many passes too, would have a Brian Westbrook/Steve Slaton type season in 2009. It was also announced that Rice would be receiving the goal-line carries for the Ravens.
Through the first two weeks of the 2009 season, Rice has played some solid football for the Ravens. With 144 rushing yards and 58 receving yards, Rice has been an effective force for the Ravens. The major downside is the fact that he hasn't yet scored a touchdown. Not in 2009, and not in his NFL career.
Willis McGahee, on the other hand, already has four touchdowns through the first two weeks of fantasy football. Not only does he have the touchdowns, but he also has the yards. With 123 rush yards and 41 receiving yards, his totals aren't too far behind those of Rice's.
McGahee has obviously been the better fantasy football running back so far, but one has to wonder if his health can keep him this effective all year. He seems to think so, but what happens from here is anyone's guess.

Ten Running Tips to Run Faster - Increase Your Running Speed!
These are my take-home running tips to immediately increase your sprinting speed. If you want fast results, one or a combination of these will probably do the trick. These running tips are quick and easy, and can help out any runner, especially a beginner.
- Run on the balls of your feet. Avoid heel strikes when you're sprinting. Running on the balls of your feet lowers the duration of contact with the ground. That contact, instead of allowing more force to be generated, will actually slow you down when you are running your very fastest. Furthermore, running on the balls of your feet can cause you to lean forward slightly, rather than allow you to "sit back." A slight lean is often desirable.
- Keep your hands, shoulders, and jaw loose. Avoid expending energy that doesn't translate into speed. Tensing up can kill your time. Relax, and you will run better. Running at maximum effort doesn't mean you have to try to pass a kidney stone in the process.
- Look far down the track/course. Aiming your eyesight further down your path of travel can help you run in a straighter line. If you're looking down, you might be weaving, which will lengthen the distance you have to travel.
- Lace your shoes tight. Don't be excessive, but lacing your shoes correctly can make your shoes an extension of your feet. Make your shoes work for you. You don't want to be flopping around in loose shoes. This will lessen the amount of force you can immediately apply to the ground.
- Take off hard. Set your pace early in the race. Even one- or two-milers come off the starting line rather quickly. They must decelerate, but it gets their bodies and minds ready to run a great race. Make sure to utilize your blocks. If you simply stand up out of them, you're wasting energy. You'd be better off just standing in the first place.
- Warm up beforehand. You definitely do not want to shock your muscles at the sound of the gun. Once your muscles (and your psyche) know what they're up for, they'll be much more ready to do what you want them to do. And that's run fast.
- Stretch beforehand. The same goes for this tip. Get your muscles ready to work! An added benefit is that your mind will be at easy about injuries. Once you're flexible, you'll be much less prone to hurting yourself.
- Work your arms. Don't have "dino-arms." Swing your arms like you mean it. This comes especially in handy when you're tired. Swinging your arms can help you lengthen your stride when your legs turn to Jell-O during the last 70 meters of a 400. Do NOT swing your arms across your body.
- Pick up your knees. Doing this also encourages lengthening of the stride. It also helps generate more power with each step.
- Wear the right clothes. This goes for race time AND practice time. If you have the right clothes for practice, you can train harder. If you train harder, you'll get much faster. During times when you have to race, don't worry about how you look. Short shorts are not meant to humiliate you. The kid in basketball shorts won't be laughing once you smoke him in the 100 meter dash.
Interval Training For Runners
recAfter about a year of consistent training, many runners feel that their performances level off and that running greater distances no longer improves their speed. This is when interval work becomes a useful training tool. In fact, interval training is the best way to increase the pace at which you are able to run within aerobic threshold; in other words, it's the most effective way to increase the speed of your conversational pace.
What is interval training?
Interval training (I-Training) is the quickest and most effective way to increase your running pace. This training involves running short bursts at a fast anaerobic pace (80% of your maximum heart rate (MHR)), followed by short recovery jogs. This training will increase the speed at which you can run in aerobic state. Your hard anaerobic bursts should last no more than 3 minutes, since this is everyone's physiological limit, from beginner to Olympian. Follow your hard segment with a slow recovery jog that allows you to return to conversational pace (60% MHR).
How does it work?
I-Training works by improving the volume of oxygen your body can obtain and use while training at MHR (VO2 max). High VO2 max values indicate high fitness levels and this is what allows advanced and elite athletes to run faster and train more intensely than beginners. So as you improve your VO2 max through I-Training, your ability to use oxygen will improve and your base aerobic pace increase too. Interval training will also help increase your aerobic training by improving your 'energy transport system'. This refers to the efficiency with which your body transfers oxygen-rich blood to your muscles for use while training.

Tips For Running Long Distances
I'm a huge fan of long distance running. Not only do I love the health benefits that come with going on long runs, but I really do love what it does for my mind. I always feel like I have a clear head after I go long distance running, and the endorphins and everything else seem to be in full effect after going on a long distance run. My energy level is also great once I'm done and I find myself sleeping better too.
With that said, it's also important that you follow a few general guidelines when embarking on a very long kind of run. You must treat your body right for both the optimal performance and to ensure the maximum benefits to your health. Follow a few tips like these, and you'll have the best runs possible.
Try to go on your runs either early in the morning, or later in the day when the sun is on its way down. The worst time to run is with a hot sun beating down on you, as this leads to dehydration and makes it harder to get things done in general. Try to determine whether you're a morning person or a nighttime person, and base your decision on this.
Also, try to run with music. Not only do I find this inspiring, but the time always seems to pass by more quickly when I run with music. This gets the blood flowing and I can't imagine what I'd do without my music.
On another note, I'm a huge lover of wine goblets and I especially love crystal goblets.
Can the New York Giants Win the Super Bowl in 2010?
The New York Giants started off the 09' season well. While they are one of the favorites to come out of the NFC, it won't be easy by any means. Eli Manning has stepped out of old brother Peyton Manning's shadow with his own Super Bowl ring. The NFC East is one of the most competitive divisions in football and winning it will be an accomplishment without a doubt. The Giants have all the necessary components for a winning football team, good defense, good running game and a Pro Bowl quarterback.
The New York Giants have many talented outlets to choose from - WR Steve Smith, TE Kevin Boss, RB Ahmad Bradshaw, RB Brandon Jacobs, and WR Mario Manningham. When the Giants went on their Super Bowl run of 07' not many expected them to do much once they were in the playoffs. This year could provide the Giants with the same opportunity - many favor the Minnesota Vikings, New Orleans Saints, Philadelphia Eagles ahead of the Giants at this time.
The most important wins will be winning against the division rivals - this is because the NFC East division could possible end in a tie. For example, both the Giants and Eagles finish 11-5 - the tie breaker goes to who won the head to head meetings. Every game is so critical in the NFC East division and the Giants can not fall behind early in the season.
Eli Manning has grown up over the last couple of seasons and has become a leader on the field like his old brother - maybe not to the same extent but he is well respectable now. Eli Manning seems to play better on the road then at home, which can be a blessing or a curse, not quite sure. The Giants have the potential, like a few other teams, to make it far into the playoffs if they gain some momentum.
The New York Giants forum at RootZoo is alive and well. Head on over for some free fantasy football, where you earn real cash for winning your league.
By Mark ParachasWashington Redskins Fans Should Worry
The Washington Redskins suffered a humiliating defeat at the hands of the Detroit Lions in week 3 -- it might not have been the worst loss in franchise history, but it's right up there. There is no excuse in losing to the Lions really, the Washington Redskins have by far the more talented team -- the most talented teams don't always win -- sometimes the team more prepared wins. Anymore defeats by inadequate teams and the Redskins fans, front office, and head coach Jim Zorn will see their Redskins be in last place in the NFC East.
The Washington Redskins have a very tough schedule when you consider they must play the Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants and Philadelphia Eagles twice a season. If the Redskins can't beat the Detroit Lions, what chance do they have against the better teams of the league. The Redskins need wins against the Kansas City Chiefs, Tampa Bay Bucs and Oakland Raiders if they hope to even taste the top of the NFC East division.
The Redskins have QB Jason Campbell -- who hasn't developed as the franchise QB the Redskins were hoping for, yet. Campbell is already 27 years old and the most touchdown passes he threw for in a season was only 13 in 08'. Redskins fans hope he is a late bloomer or otherwise the Redskins have no future with his as QB.
In 08', Campbell did compete 62% of his pass attempts which shows he can be accurate enough, but his leadership qualities are questioned. Given that head coach Jim Zorn played quarterback in the NFL before -- one would assume Campbell would be further along in his development then he currently is. The Redskins are in a very tough division if you are a good team, if the Redskins keep playing like they have, a 6-10 season will be their destiny.

How to Have the Best Bodybuilding Routines
Bodybuilding is about more than just getting into shape or building strength, it is maximizing bulk and definition for each muscle in your body. As a result, a Bodybuilding Workout is often more intense than those of the average health-conscious person or even of other athletes. It is particularly tailored for the discipline, seeking to not just make you healthy and strong, but also defined and beautiful. Here are some tips for developing complete Bodybuilding Routines for you.
Making a Schedule
When you want to Build Muscle and sharpen your cuts, you need to work out as often as possible while avoiding injury or imbalance. To Build Lean Muscle you must take care not to overwork, or you will cause injuries which make further development impossible. If you notice that you aren't able to increase the weight at your next workout, or if you don't feel as confident about what you have been doing--if you hit a wall--it is time to slow down. The most common bodybuilding schedule is three on, one off. Over three consecutive days alternate muscle groups to avoid overwork and then take a day off. You may find other schedules such as every other day or two on, one off work better for you and your Bodybuilding Workouts. Experiment and find a schedule that you can keep, and which won't stress your progress.
Don't Forget the Legs
Serious bodybuilders can continuously spot the poser: He's the guy with an impressive upper body and only ordinary legs. Everybody loves Bodybuilding Routines for the upper body-presses, curls, pushups, etc.-and everybody loves showing off their guns. But if you want to develop a serious Bodybuilding Workout, you must mind the quads, thighs, calves, hams and glutes. When you Build Muscle on your legs, you may not get as many looks from the ladies, but you will definitely look better, compete better and avoid injury in the future. Bodybuilding helps you Build Lean Muscle all over your body-the legs and lower body are no less important than the arms and upper.
Burning Fat
Bodybuilding Workouts don't just use weights-you are looking for definition along with that swollen muscle mass. The way to get cut is to shed fat. There are a million diets, gadgets and gimmicks which promise to take fat off your body, but only one really works: Burning more calories than you eat. Recent research suggests that weightlifting alone is actually perhaps the best calorie burner, but definition comes from extended aerobic exercise. The classic bodybuilding technique for this has been to do high reps with low weight on all your exercises, but this is probably less effective than swimming, running, cycling or even something more exciting like martial arts or a pickup basketball game. Find the aerobic exercises that you enjoy the most, and make sure you take almost as much time for these as your Bodybuilding Routines. With a healthful, low-cal diet you can start to see those muscles pop in a very short time.

How to Develop a Proper Bodybuilding Program
If your quest is to come up with a proper bodybuilding program which will help you stay fit, then this article will help you achieve your goal. The first thing you need to do before establishing your bodybuilding program is to seek the advice of a physician. A physician will be able to determine whether you are healthy enough to begin your training. If your body is not fit enough health wise you cannot begin the bodybuilding program because this could worsen your situation.
After getting the go ahead from your physician, you need to write down what you aim to achieve. Your goal could be to increase your muscle mass or to lose weight and getting a toned body. The goal you write down will determine the kind of bodybuilding program you are going to use. If you are looking to get a well toned body, your bodybuilding program should incorporate the use of light weights with many reps. if you are looking to getting very muscular then you should use heavy weights with fewer reps.
When you adopt a proper bodybuilding program you will be able to train in good form. Training using poor form leads to cheating which means the muscles will not experience the stress as a result of the weight. If you want to perform the lifts at a controlled tempo and rate you should also maintain proper form in your training. Proper form is as important as using heavy weights as far as muscle development is concerned. Training using the right tempo will allow you to stay focused in your training and thus be able to avoid injuries.
Your bodybuilding program should be able to stimulate the growth of your muscles as much as possible. You need to apply techniques such as compound movements as well as the use of free weights so that you can be able to increase the size of your muscles. Free weights are very effective in increasing the tension felt by the muscles. You should also use compound movements when training since they are able to train more than one muscle group at the same time.
After determining the bodybuilding program you are going to use, it is important that you monitor your progress so that you can be able to evaluate whether the bodybuilding program you have chosen is helping you develop your muscles. First you need to keep track of your progress and in order to do this you should purchase a set of body fat callipers as well as weight scales. The weighing scale helps you calculate the weight of your body any given time. Your total weight includes that of your fat, muscles and bones. If you are looking to reduce your body fat then the weighing scale will show you whether you are making any progress. The body fat calliper is more effective than the weighing scale because of its ability to differentiate between body muscles and body fat.

A Guide to Women's Bodybuilding
I wanted to take the time to supply you with a bit of a women's bodybuilding guide that you can use to help enhance your training. Bodybuilding is a growing sport, but it is mainly being grown by females. More women are turning to this sport for a challenge. Stay at home moms are suddenly finding themselves looking for a purpose as their children get older and need less attention. They're turning to this sport because it is challenging, difficult and rewarding. This is still considered a taboo sport to most people, but that is not stopping the thousands of women that are getting involved each day. I'm going to help you by giving you a guide to women's bodybuilding.
The first thing that you need to understand is that diet is everything. I know the gym is often the place people like to start, but it's not. Your diet is what determines your results and there are specific things you need to do. First, you have to start eating smaller meals more often. This gives your body a consistent flow of nutrients to build muscle. Secondly, you should try to get more protein into your diet because that is what builds muscle tissue. Lastly, you'll want to have a diet journal and record everything you eat.
Women's bodybuilding wouldn't be complete without a little information for the gym. You have to be intense in the gym. It isn't necessarily how much you life, but intense you are. As long as you are working hard and are challenging yourself you should have good results.

Countless Benefits You Can Receive From Healthy Weight Training
Weight training is one of the best body building approaches both for the people engaging in competitions and the others who only want to keep fit. This is why all gyms are full of weight training equipments lending the body builders to concentrate on the approach more than any other within the body building field. However, there is a need to balance weight training with other elements of body building to avoid any imbalances within the field.
Weight training improves the circulation of body fluids which are very important for a balanced operation. Blood is a very important element in the body. This is because is helps to supply the relevant nutrients for muscle development and nourishing them with sufficient energy. Blood also helps to supply oxygen to the tissues and transport the deoxygenated blood back to the heart for more nourishment. The supplied oxygen is very essential since regular exercising is made possible with minimal risks of suffocation, dehydration, fainting or death.
Weight training also helps in the improvement of sleep for a body builder. This means that, one is able to get ample rest as a result of weight training. When you train, you workout muscles and strain them to the extremes and therefore they develop a lot of fatigue which makes them sour. This is why a person is able to sleep soundly when the muscles are relaxing and doing away with sleepless nights which are brought about by stress. This relaxing duration is very important since it helps in giving the body time to grow and repair the worn out tissues while still nourishing the muscles with more energy for further training.
Weight training helps in the improvement of bone density. This is made possible through the continuous workout of the bones when you lift weights making them strong and giving them more endurance. With the different motions and movements during training, the bones are well structured and their growth is maintained. On the same note, the reduction of fats within the body reduces chances of developing fragile bones which can easily break and this hardening is what is required for the body building process.
Indirectly, weight training improves self esteem. This is because of the self owned training programs which one develops on their own and follows them. In case of success, the individuals are proud of their step taken and they feel having achieved something in life. The nature of the body also determines an individual's self esteem in that, you are proud of whom you are. For the plump bodies, many people tend to shy of from the others because of the perceptions they get from different people. With weight training draining all the fats and shaping the body, the individuals usually develop some confidence which allow them to face everyone with pride. To add on to this, stress is far much reduced and therefore aging is slowed down. This is why you will find many people turning on to the gym when they age because it has been known to help reduce complications and diseases of the old age which reduces the life span.
Your Best Bodybuilding Workout Guide
You want the body of The Terminator. That is not a huge impossibility if you are willing to work hard and endure the discipline of serious training. A good bodybuilding workout has effective weight lifting programs designed to push each target area to its maximum level of endurance. If you think you can handle the work that comes before the rewards of a great physique, read on to find out how.
Let's begin with the chest workout. Nothing inspires a damsel in distress more than a broad and well-developed chest on a guy. To get the most out of your workout, remember to stretch and warm up well so that blood is flowing to the target area preparing it for hard training.
Start with 2 sets of bench press 15 light weight reps each. Then progress to 3 heavy sets of incline bench press and dumbbell flyes of 8 reps each. A 25-30 degree angle for the inclined bench press gives maximum weight lifting emphasis especially for the upper chest muscles. You can also train your arms alongside your chest. Start with lower weights and build your way to higher loads with less repetition per set.
The crunches are still the best way to sculpt the abdominal muscles. Do not put your hands under your head because this will lead to poor posture and put strain on your neck area. Cross your arms over your chest instead. Other effective abdominal exercises are leg raises. You can do this lying down or gripping the arm rests of a bar or the Roman chair. For obliques, you can hold on to weights on either side of your body and slowly bend from side to side. Do not perform these sets quickly or it can lead to lower back injuries.
Many aspiring bodybuilders work out their backs less because it is a muscle group they seldom see. It is one of the most important muscles to develop because a strong back is the cornerstone of most exercises. For beginners, the best back workouts will be chin up, pull ups and dead lifts. As you progress, you can alternate with barbell shrugs, upright rows, lat pull downs (upper back); hyper extensions, bent over barbell rows (lower back); one arm dumbbell rows, seated rows (middle back).
Shoulders are one of the hardest body parts to target. The seated shoulder press is an effective exercise for this. Begin with one to two sets of warm ups that is 50% of the weight you usually use. You can also switch it up with military press exercise, machine presses and lateral raises. Always perform these exercises before you do triceps.
Leg muscle training is demanding but usually grows without much of a problem unlike some of the other body parts. The basic bodybuilding workout for legs is the squat. Squats work almost all areas of your legs and then some. Incorporate leg press, leg curls, lunges, calf raises and hamstring exercises to ensure strong and muscular thighs that can carry the rest of your buff body.
Weight lifting programs challenge the best of us. They require determination of steel and a strong disregard for temporary pain. The end result is not just a rock hard body; it is good health and a key attitude of resiliency that will carry you anywhere in life.
Emmanuel Palmer has read up and learned from the best weight lifting programs out in the market today. Read on to get free Bodybuilding Workout articles you can use today.
Pitcher Gets Famous Thanks to Chiropractic Help
Cole Hamels, the baseball pitcher, was part of his team's disabled list around a year back, and had to sit out a majority of the games during that period due to injuries. This is the same pitcher that is now being celebrated as the Most Valuable Player for helping his team win the World Championship in the World Series 2008.
He pitches for the Philadelphia Phillies. He started to develop elbow problems during the last part of the 2007 season, and these were so bad that they kept him on the side-lines. He had suffered from knee pain and hip pain related matters earlier but had received help in the form of Chiropractic assistance.
Before the start of the 2008 season, he is known to have requested his team's management for the availability of Chiropractic care to be given to him and his fellow teammates when they played in Philadelphia. He also requested that this Chiropractic care also be provided in the other cities that they travel to playing their scheduled games.
Once the team management agreed, Hamels went on to say that using a Chiropractor's help had worked very well for him, and that it was a good thing that the management had put in place, a team of Chiropractors in different cities. This was in April 2009. He went on to saying that after this Chiropractic care was made completely available, he had an opinion that they could achieve the 20 game winning mark for that season.
While he did not get to the 20 game number that he had set out for, he did finish the year with a notable 14-10 record. This got his team to the conference championship, and also got them a spot in the play offs. This is the time when Hamels began to do extremely well.
The first of his play off appearances was in opposition to the Milwaukee Brewers. He did a great job and got his team in the next round where they had to face the Los Angeles Dodgers. He pitched in their series first game and again helped his team win, getting his team a spot in the World Series. The MVP was then awarded to Hamels for the League Championship Series.
Owing to the recent success, and feeling good about his health, the World Series saw him taking to the mound in the first game opposite the Tampa Bay Rays, and helping his team get a victory. Hamels was called to play again in the last game, and pitched his way to victory. He got the much sought after MVP award for his performance in the 2008 World Series.
His amazing performance in the post season coupled with the record of 4 wins and no losses will surely be remembered for some time to come. In contrast to the 2007 season, where he was nursing his pitching arm, Hamels was now in the spotlight, and even featured on a number of TV shows such as the Late Night Show with David Letterman.
It is obvious that the confidence that he had in Chiropractic care along with his willingness to work in taking care of his fitness, had helped him succeed during the season. Well done Chiropractors, the Phillies, and Cole Hamels.

2010 Worth Baseball Bat Reviews
Last year I said that Rawlings is the Rodney Dangerfield of baseball bats and their brother brand, Worth, is the Joe Piscopo of baseball bats. You know he's still doing comedy shows somewhere on earth but you just don't care. For the 2010 model year nothing has changed. Nobody seems to care about Worth bats and it's difficult to even find much information on their bats. Amazingly this is the case on their own web site where they don't tell you which baseball bats are for the 2010 model year! They only talk about their new softball bats.
Worth is owned by K2 (the ski company) which also owns the Rawlings and Miken brands. To the best of my knowledge it appears Worth has abandoned composite bats and is exclusively focusing on alloy bats in 2010. On the surface this makes sense as Miken and Rawlings are focused on composite bats. What's amazing is that Worth's 2010 alloy model is priced in the high end of the alloy bat category! Even Joe Piscopo is scratching his head about this strategy. Shouldn't Worth be K2's discount brand?
I'm including Worth's composite bats in my reviews even though they're the same bats they offered in the 2009 model year. They make no mention of any 2010 composite models on their web site. In addition, all there 2009 composite models have drastically reduced prices indicating they are discontinued.
Here is what Worth is offering:
Worth Composite Bats
- Titan - Adult only 100% composite, one-piece bat with a balanced design. Worth does not specify whether this, or any of their bats, has a stiff or flex handle. This is the 2009 model and they do not have a 2010 model. The Adult -3 can be found for anywhere between $159 and $329. Clearly this bat is on the discount racks to clear it from their warehouse. Needless to say you should stay away from this bat.
- Mayhem Comp - Youth only 100% composite, one piece bat with does not specify the handle flex. This bat is the youth version of the 2009 Titan. Like the Titan it's on the discount racks and appears to be discontinued. Stay away from this bat as well.
- Lithium Prodigy/Amp: This actually is a 2010 model. A 100% alloy, one-piece bat with what appears to be a flex handle and balanced design. The name is different for the Adult/Senior and Youth model but it's the same bat. The Adult -3 model retails for $199 which amazingly prices it with the Louisville Omaha and Easton V12. This bat should be priced around the $149. Unless you're playing T-Ball or want to be ridiculed while at the plate I'd go elsewhere for a bat.
- Copperhead, Prodigy and Mutant: All low quality, bargain basement priced alloy bats. They are made with older material and have retail prices between $49 - $89.
Electronic Baseball Scorebook - The Tech-Savvy and Convenient Scorebook
Recording and keeping track of your team's statistics are now made easy thanks to the electronic baseball scorebook. This also lets you record your team placement, the quality of play during tournaments, and the history of each of your players. This type of scorebook is useful for both managers and coaches of baseball teams because it helps keep their records and statistics more organized.
Why go electronic?
Before the advent of the electronic baseball scorebook, there was the manual scorebook that comes in the form of spiral bound notebooks that has stat sheets inside. While they are significantly cheaper, you may have some difficulty in using one especially when it comes to keeping the data organized. For instance, you may have to struggle reading the handwriting of the person who is assigned to write on it, and you may have a hard time organizing the records later on when you do everything manually. Therefore, you are better off with electronic baseball scorebooks that boast extensive databases that can fit in all the data and information you need to input in them.
More benefits
The electronic baseball scorebook is technically a high-end software program that helps you keep track of your team's per-game statistics and season-to-date statistics. It can also be used for recording statistical reports of your rival baseball teams, the schedules, and the biographical information of each of your players.
Software tech support and compatibility matter
When purchasing electronic baseball scorebooks, make sure that they are equipped with software that is compatible with the operating system of your computer. Furthermore, make sure that it comes with free technical assistance or support that you can easily access by calling a toll-free number any time. That way, you can easily find solutions for any technical problems that may occur at any point in time, especially during a game.
The Late, Great Ted Williams
Baseball, The United States' homegrown past-time, has always been considered as a national prize. To an avid fan such as myself, nothing is more happy than to watch the hobby being played well by the famous heroes of the game. To me, none swatted the ball stronger, or played the sport better than the now deceased, great Ted Williams, and in my eyes he is the most sparkling of all those baseball heroes. His name in my eyes should be on the tongue of every dynamic lover of baseball, and should carry on to be pressed on baseball caps, on the backs of wholesale jerseys, or even on those lunchboxes kids used to sling. Why? The name, the legacy, and the man should never be forgotten, for the heritage of baseball is wealthier because of it.
Christened lovingly as Terrible Ted, Ted Williams played the left field position for twenty-one seasons, two of which were delayed by duty in the United States Marine Corps. as a pilot, and in two separate wars no less. The character of a man who plays a sport with love and devotion, while not dismissing the same devotion to the assurance and service of his nation and countrymen, is the archetype of class itself. The man was absent for five years on that field, during the peak of his fitness, and I have complete trust that were his feet present on the ballfield, that his extraordinarily great average would be that much more spectacular.
Mr. Williams was a hitter and boy, could he hit. He honed the science of hitting like you would a subject at school. Stan Musial was heard as saying, "Ted Williams was the most amazing hitter of our age. He obtained six batting titles and served his country for 5 years, so he would have clutched more. He loved talking about hitting and was a great student of hitting and pitchers." He gained the MVP Award twice, commanded the major leagues in batting six times, and clutched the Triple Crown two times as well. He totalled a career batting average of .344, with 521 home runs and became the last player to bat over .400 in a sole season, which was .406 in 1941 to be accurate. He is the undoubted leader of batting averages for those with 500 runs or more.
A moment in Ted Williams' illustrious career was in the 1946 All-Star Game at Fenway. He walloped a home run to add to his belt, this time off of Rip Sewell's notorious eephus pitch. It was like 2 gunslingers warring it out through mental warfare. Williams dared Sewell to toss the pitch, even feigning weakness with a strike on the 1st. He defied him a second time, and slammed a home run. In that celebrated game, he hit four for four with two home runs and five RBIs, as the AL beat the NL, 12-0. Now let's see those wholesale jersey products. Otherwise I'm thinking about becoming a jerseys wholesaler myself to get "The Kid's" legendary name on as millions jerseys, to as many baseball fans as I possibly can.
I have great interest in wholesale jerseys such as NBA jersey, soccer jersey and NFL jersey.
As a famous jersey wholesaler, I have engaged in this line for more than 10 years.
I am glad to share experiences of wholesale jersey with you.

The Union of European Football Associations
The U.E.F.A. is the governing body for the European football league. This group of people is responsible for setting the rules and standards for the European football league at all levels of football playing. The people in this group take their jobs very seriously. The association was formed so that the integrity of football would not be lost in the European countries, as it is believed to have been lost in other countries around the world.
Each year there is a convention held to discuss the rules and regulations that should followed by the league. Each year the convention is held in a different country that participates in the football league. This year, the U.E.F.A. set a list of value that they intend to instill in the league to safeguard the sport.
The first value that they feel needs to be instilled is to keep football first. Football is about the sport of playing the game, not the merchandize that is produced and sold because of the game. They also believe players sponsoring other products should be kept to a minimum.
The second value they implemented is pyramiding the structure of football. The purpose is of this is to keep the players and the coaches involved in the decision making processes of the league. The U.E.F.A. feels that if the coaches and players help in the decisions it will help keep them honest and passionate about the game.
Unity and leadership is considered the third value that they have implemented. With unity and leadership the sport can be protected and the players stay role models for the younger people in the nations. This is a big concern for the leaders of the sport.
The leaders also feel that keeping football as a grassroots sport will help preserve it's presence in Europe for years to come. Although they put that youth protection and education is a separate value to maintain, it actually falls in to this category as well. The U.E.F.A. feels that the protection and education of Europe's youth is vital to maintaining a respectable football league.
Sporting integrity and betting is another value that the association hopes to instill in the league. While betting revenue helps support the football league, leaders are concerned about coaches and players rigging games for the profits of betting. Maintaining integrity and limiting the betting is a sure way to help insure the league's standings for years to come.
The other values that were set by the association are just as important as the ones listed. Financial fairness to the players and regularity of competitions helps to further keep the integrity and success of the sport. Discrimination of any type is not tolerated in the European league. National teams and clubs are also regulated to insure fairness and structure. Respect is a must for all players, coaches, and fans. No violence of any type is tolerated.
Maintaining the European sports model is the ultimate goal for the U.E.F.A. For more information regarding their rules and regulations, as well as season scheduling check out their website.
Zola and West Ham United - Were They Really Made For Each Other?
Let's be honest. We were all a little sceptical when West Ham appointed Gianfranco Zola as their new manager in September, 2008.
I know he was a genius as a player; no question about that. And, by common consent, one of the 'nicest men in football'. But a manager, in the cut-throat, live and die by results world of the Premier League? As a West Ham follower might have said, 'You're having a laugh.' And, after all, the man who was once voted Chelsea's best ever player, had only ever been assistant manager to Italy's Under 21 side. What sort of experience was that to bring to a club under financial pressure and struggling for results?
Except, so far, it's working. Really working. Those West Ham fans who were dubious about someone with such an obvious allegiance to the moneybags of Chelsea across London have been won over. Strangely, perhaps, Zola was helped by the fact that, also from Chelsea, the club appointed Steve Clarke as his assistant. Clarke, combative, shrewd and synonymous with Chelsea for many successful years, was looked upon as a real coup by the West Ham supporters. They were genuinely delighted to have captured someone with such an illustrious track record.
And the two seem to have been accepted almost straight away. Clearly determined, professional, honest and hardworking, Zola and Clarke have succeeded in getting West Ham playing the kind of football the fans want to see. In the days of Ted Fenton, Ron Greenwood and John Lyall everyone knew that West Ham played football the 'proper way', and many successful managers - Malcolm Allison, Noel Cantwell, Harry Redknapp, John Bond, et al - developed through the West Ham 'academy'.
The Academy, of course, has continued to develop some of England's brightest players. Joe Cole, Frank Lampard, Rio Ferdinand, Michael Carrick and Glen Johnson are all members of the England squad - and all started their careers at West Ham. Current players such as Mark Noble and the audaciously promising Jack Collison already are playing way beyond their years.
Zola, unbelievably only West Ham's twelfth manager in 108 years of history, is also just the second non-English appointment; and he already has managed the team for more games than the other, Scotsman Lou Macari. He's also impressed the notoriously hard to please aficionados by the way in which he and his coaching staff have improved the players they have - and with the financial situation, at the moment, seeming no nearer resolution, that's important. Carlton Cole was talked about glowingly a few years ago when he was a youngster at Chelsea; Clarke and Zola's belief in him coupled with their coaching abilities have helped show people just why that was. Matthew Uposn was a defender who always looked good but made careless errors; he now looks well worth his England place. Robert Green has every right to consider himself a justifiable contender to eventually replace David James in the international number one jersey.
Neutral football supporters would love to see Gianfranco Zola and West Ham continue to thrive. Let's hope they don't have to sell off all their best young players, the likes of Dean Ashton can stay fit for a season, and that the Icelandic owners can find someone who will bring financial stability.
Then we can hear the Bubbles anthem resoundingly echoing around the Boleyn Ground and see Gianfranco Zola's claret and blue army perhaps fighting for a place in Europe - their form in the second half of last season certainly suggested it's a realistic ambition.

Portsmouth FC Need to Take Care of Their Fans in the Future
Today, Dr Sulaiman Al Fahim has been hitting out at the national press coverage regarding the Portsmouth takeover. His spokesman is quoted in the local newspaper, for the first time directly referring to the 'misleading' stories and reiterating that the takeover remains on track.
That is all I have to say on that subject for now, as I am trying my best not to comment further on press coverage until the takeover is complete.
All I can do today is refer you to the excellent Mike Hall, writing on pompey-fans.com.
His article goes back to a point he made a few weeks ago. Dr Al Fahim obviously bought the club because he could see potential. The dream of building a new 40,000-plus capacity World Cup stadium requires the fulfilment of this potential to a level far beyond the performance of the club at present. I think the dream is possible, but although there are undoubtedly converts located even within the City and immediate vicinity, the vast majorityof the potential exists in the surrounding districts.
The problem is that the club can not rely on family loyalty and tradition in these areas. Portsmouth will need to be the best-run club in the country if it is to attract these people. They will need to feel like valued customers getting value for money at all times, or they simply won't come back. For all the progress Portsmouth has made in recent years, both on and off the pitch, at times it still continues to treat its supporters with less than the respect they deserve. There can be no more episodes along the lines of the Glen Johnson shirt referred to in Mike's article.
The fans ARE the club, and never has that been more true than now, as we bid to stage the World Cup in a brand new stadium. I hope Dr Al Fahim is the one to finally realise the implications of that, and to put the ethos into practice. If he does, we might finally get our new stadium after all. By Matthew Robert Jones
Manchester United V Liverpool - The World's Biggest Football Rivalry
For many years Liverpool FC have held the title as the most successful club in England thanks to their record breaking 18 First Division/Premier League titles. However in recent years Manchester United have had a long run of constant success and now tie with Liverpool's record of 18 League titles thanks to their Premier League title for the 2008/09 season.
Manchester and Liverpool are both in the North West of England and are situated approximately 34 miles apart, with the M62 motorway the easiest way to get between the two cities.
The rivalry between inhabitants of both cities transcends Football and is part of the culture, and originally stems from the Industrial revolution period of the late 1800's and early 1900's. Liverpool's port was large and brought in huge amounts of ships and cargo providing jobs and wealth to the area. As Manchester floundered they decided to build the Manchester ship canal that linked the city of Manchester with the Irish sea. Whilst this brought prosperity and jobs to Manchester it caused unemployment in Liverpool and much resentment.
On the footballing side Manchester United were the first team to lift the European Cup in 1968 under the stewardship of the legendary Scottish manager Sir Matt Busby. Liverpool did not win the European Cup until the 1970's but have now won the trophy 5 times to United's 3 times.
Whilst the 1970's and 1980's were most definitely Liverpools glory period of success, the 1990's and 2000's were Man Utd's glory period of success. Liverpool have now gone 19 years without winning the League title in England.
During the 2008/09 Premier League season Liverpool did the double over Man Utd, beating them 2-1 at Anfield and 4-1 at Old Trafford, it was Liverpool's best league campaign in years but they still came up short as United won the league by four points.
Games between the sides are fiercely fought occasions and tickets for these games are very hard to get hold of due to the extremely high demand, if you are not a season ticket holder the only way to get one is to use a reputable ticket agent.
FC Barcelona Extends Victor Valdes' Contract to 2014
It came as a shock to many supporters of FC Barcelona when it looked as if Barça management was at loggerheads with their star goal keeper over an agreement to extend his contract beyond 2010, when it was due to expire.
Eventually negotiations between FC Barcelona and the manager of Victor Valdes broke down entirely, with the club's president insisting that he would only speak to Valdes directly, with the aim of resolving the standoff.
Valdes is every inch Barcelona, and it is difficult to imagine the squad without him. Highly opinionated, he is a real force to be reckoned with both as goalie and as third team captain, behind Puyol and Xavi.
The good news is that the dispute is over and an extended contract agreed. Victor Valdes is now contracted to play for Barcelona until 2014, where he believes he will finish his playing career aged 32.
Valdes career as first team keeper is curious; brought up in the Barcelona youth system he had been in the main squad since 2002/03. He'd joined the club in 1992, although moved with his family to Tenerife for three years. Initially Barcelona had bought Rustu Recber as keeper for the 2003/04 season - the year that Laporta took over and brought in Frank Rijkaard as coach - but for a variety of reasons he was not up to the job and so it was Victor Valdes who played in goal for the 2003/04 season.
Valdes won the Zamora Trophy, awarded to the best goalkeeper in Spain, in 2004/05, but perhaps his real moment of glory was in the Champions League win of 2005/06 when he won a lot of fans thanks to two fantastic point-blank saves from Arsenal's Thierry Henry.

Exercises to Jump Higher - 4 Surefire Exercises to Increase Your Vertical Jump
Many people are using special techniques and exercises to jump higher. Even though there are many exercises that you can do to increase your vertical jump, I'm going to give you a few that have worked for me. Remember that prior to performing these exercises, you should warm up and stretch to reduce injury to the muscle groups you will be exercising. A good way to warm up is to use a jump rope, if you have one.
Toe Raises
This exercises is fairly self explanatory. Toe raises exercises several muscle groups that are involved in jumping, and are a great way to stretch the ligaments in the ankle to reduce injury in the future. To perform this exercise simply stand erect, and raise to your toes. Be sure to move slowly and stretch as high as you can possibly go. Prevent yourself to rocking back and forth. Once you reach a point you can and should use weights to increase resistance.
Deep Knee Bends
Deep knee bends work on the major muscle groups that are involved in jumping. They can also strengthen the ligaments involved in knee bending, which can reduce future injury. To perform the exercise, bend your knees and crouch down with a very slight arch in your back, or as straight as possible. You should go down as far as you can go without pain, this is usually below a 90 degree angle. Slowly raise to an erect position, ensuring that your back remains at the same angle. These can also be done with small weights to increase resistance.
Stomach Crunches
Stomach crunches are a very simple exercises that can increase your core strength. Believe it or not, your abdominal muscles are heavily involved when jumping.
Jumping Rope
If you have a jumping rope, use it. These can be done virtually anywhere or any time, such as watching TV. Using a jumping rope is not only good for your cardiovascular endurance, but it also helps to increase the core muscles involved in jumping.
